Well, every Monday a new bird
This one is not that hard to find
Well, every Monday a new bird
This one is not that hard to find
Red-necked Phalarope, Phalaropus lobatus
Sure is Chocky
Smalnäbbad simsnäppa Red-necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus
Well, let us see if You can catch this bird
Hen Harrier (Circus cyaneus)
I'll opt for female Sparrowhawk, Accipiter nisus.
Yes. I think you are right Rolf. the white eyebrows are a tell-tail aren't they?
Useless to argue with Rolf
Sparvhök Eurasian Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus
Funny looking picture, was it not ?
They are certainly more prominent that on the Hen Harrier.
I wasn't arguing. I was agreeing
It's those yellow, staring eyes....
I can well imagine how horrendous it must be for a little bird to be staring straight into them.
Its last look at another bird perhaps?
Yeh, it's a pretty scary sight, those eyes!
Well, all my bird pictures are in the computer at work, so I just have this one to offer
Start working Monday
Merlin - female? Falco columbarius
(I hope I get this one right so you have to go out to take another pic - but don't want you to have to go back to work early!)
Amazed I am
Stenfalk Merlin Falco columbarius
Well done !
LOL, Catherine's showing off now Chris.
Yippee!
Now you need to go back to work if you cannot find another pic, Crister!
Lucky me, I do have one more.
Tomorrow
LOL - well done Catherine - it's a hard old task working out what these birds are
Ops, it is tomorrow today
so here comes the bird
I take it You never seen a bird like this one !
or You all forgot to take a look
Hmm, I wonder wich one is the right one lol
Well, I DID take a look, but was uncertain of the size in that pic...
It looks like a Merlin (Falco columbarius) in flight - but you've just given us one of those,
- so I'm still thinking!
Maybe I should leave it to Rolf - or Louise?
LOUISE! Where are you?
Maybe lol
Well, a reminder
OK, that's made it a little easier, must be female and male Montagu's Harriers - Circus pygargus.
Think the Ladies was waiting for You
Ängshök Montagu´s Harrier Circus pygargus
Nice bird !
Yes, Crister - this 'lady' certainly was anyway!
I've often wondered why the bird was given that name - and if there was a connection with Lord Montagu of Beaulieu near us. However, though he may have been an ancestor, he came from north-west of here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Montagu_(naturalist)
Had no car yesterday(service they call it) so I took the day off.
Today I am back at work again, so here is a bird for You all !
That's a Grey Wagtail ... Motacilla cinerea - (The Linnaean name makes that pretty bird sound like a disease though, doesn't it?)
P.S. Hope the car's going well!
Well, leaving the car to a garage is always a problem. Usually they are totally nerds just asking for more money. I usually do the fix myself but this time it needed a mig weld and my hobby weld was too weak for that kind of job. I am sure the job will be properlyu done but at a double cost as I am a "new" customer..... Well see.
The bird, yes Well done again
Forsärla Grey Wagtail Motacilla cinerea
So, let us find out what this is (really)
That's a difficult one, Christer. It looks like a young Warbler of some sort, although the beak is causing me some problems. I'm going to go away and think some more (ok, check the ID book some more )
I'd go for young Chiffchaffs (Phylloscopus collybita), but they are really beautiful - whatever they are...
A lot of white there, would perhaps go for juvenile Whitethroats - Sylvia communis.
Oh, yes! They have greyish heads too...
I'm going to make my excuse that the pic is ever-so-slightly over-exposed.
I did have a Whitethroat as a possibility - but I was assuming it was a youngster, with non-adult plumage... so I thought that is could be anything
Well, sligthly overexposed or not
Ärtsångare Lesser Whitethroat Sylvia curruca
The Swedish word Ärt = pea
This next one if for the girls
Rolf got it (the Whitethroat) - he's too clever by half!!!!
This new one is a lovely shot. I'll have to have a think.
Beautiful Bird, looks like a Common Tern - Sterna hirundo.
