So, is this little gray bird hard to name ?
So, is this little gray bird hard to name ?
Gray Jay, Perisoreus canadensis, ?
Nice try Chocky but have to say No this time.
Gray Flycatcher - Empidonax wrightii
Well it looks like a juvenile Wheatear - Oenanthe oenanthe, so good they named it twice.
I thought of the northern Wheatear but was torn between the two
So you are probably right Rolf
In a way he is I think I have a special version but still will not argue with the owner
Nunnestenskvätta Pied Wheatear Oenanthe pleschanka
Not much to argue about, is there
That's definitely a different species and I would imagine pretty rare in our locale, but the juveniles can look very similar.
Well, mon ami
Nothing to argue about
Let us see if this will keep You busy for a while ?
Looks like a Black Kite - Milvus migrans Cris, but the image title is perhaps a little bit of a giveaway.
Well done Rolf
Lol. It tells you at the bottom of the photo . It says B_k1
Yeah, You migth think that the letters give it away but No
It´s not that easy
It´s not a Black Kite......
Ahh, jumped too quickly there.
How about Marsh Harrier - Circus aeruginosus?
Yes, that was better
Brun kärrhök Western Marsh Harrier Circus aeruginosus
Here is a new one ! Better one bird in the hand than 10 in the woods
A very small picture, sorry about that !
Pallas's Leaf Warbler - Phylloscopus proregulus
Yes, well done
Kungsfågelsångare Pallas´s Leaf Warbler Phylloscopus proregulus
Thanks. I love these little birds all of them
Good, so here is a new small bird !
It's Dunnock shaped, so I'm assuming part of the Accentor family.
One from the cold lands, Black-throated Accentor - Prunella atrogularis?
Have to agree with that Rolf
Me too !
That was fast
Svartstrupig järnsparv Black-throated Accentor Prunella atrogularis
This bird has a very strange name in Swedish, let us see if You can find the Latin (and English) for it.
Restart- Falsterbo
or
RedstartPhoenicurus phoenicurus
Sorry Chocky
No, it is not.....
Never mind I'll try again
Good, have a go then.
I will upload a picture wher the Sun is not coloring the bird
is it a
chiffchaff - Phylloscopus collybita ?
I reckon it's a Wheatear Oenanthe oenanthe.
I recon you are right Rolf
Yes it is !
Stenskvätta, rasen leucorhoa Greenland Wheatear Oenanthe oenanthe leucorhoa
As You can see this version is from Greenland
Here is a wellknown bird
How is the saying ? Better one bird in the hand then 10 in the woods?
I don't think they say that, Crister, but maybe they should!
I'm going for Chiffchaff here - (Phylloscopus collybita, I think - though I'm not good at Linnaean names!))
- But it will probably be 'the other one' anyway!
Going by it's Black legs I'd say you are right Catherine.
It looks small but I can't tell the size of the hands
So, let us see what You can say about this very "special" bird
BTW Catherine, no snow yet. We usually don´t have any before Christmas but then we have it for 2 looong months
I'll put my money on Great White Egret - Ardea alba modesta.
Have to agree with Rolf there
