OK, here's a clue. One of the characters was a very talkative bird type creature.

The Phoenix?
This is a guess
No, it was a very talkative bird and its name reflected that.
Hope it's name wasn't Beryl (Chatterbox)
Polly wasn't a Sci-Fi , well don't think so and it's not old enough.
Nope We've had Budgie, that's not sci-fi
Hmmm. will have a think over dinner
Sorry.
I just don't know
The space ship looked like a woolworths gyroscope.
Space ship looked like a gyroscope. Definitely don't know.
Battle Star Galactica ? ( I don't think so)
Was it the Buck Rogers (Original) Or the Flash Gordon (original)
Nope, neither of their space ships looked like a Woolies gyroscope. :
I don't know what their space ships looked like . I do remember one space ship looking a bit like that and thinking how silly. But I don't recall it being 60s
Wasn't it the one with George Pepard in and the guy (John Boy from the Waltons) Can't remember if it was a series. And George Pepard came to the other guy's rescue.
Can't remember what it was called
Come to think of it That was battle beyond the stars and it wasn't 60s because John Boy wouldn't have been around and the Waltons was earlier.
Oh dear. I'm hopeless. I must have slept through the 60s.

Perhaps one of the others will. I have to say that many people I mentioned the series to, couldn't remember it until they saw the photos.
Many what other people and what photos?
May be Digidark will know it. We must give him a chance an Louise too
Other friends and the photos of the series.
Oh. I see. It was one of youe favorites was it?
Space Patrol. A children's Program?
Yes, well done.
The bird by the way was called Gabbler Dictum.
Very entertaining. I vaguely remember it
I was about to put Lost Patrol and thought it would have to be Space Patrol
So it was really a guess.
wake up please
It's time for a new tune
Sound a bit like the Ministry of Funny Walks
No, probably a little older.
Sounds a bit Spike Milligen-ish
It is a comedy, but not Spike.
What else cold it be but a comedy?
That was used in the Italian Job ( The origenal) But I don't think there was a series

Started mid sixties, then continued in early seventies.
That sounds ever so familiar, is it a cockney programme?
You're certainly on the right track Maureen.
I'll have to think about this. Meet the Hugets?
