One from the Church and the other from a small house just outside the village.

Very nice . Well done.
Where is Binfield ?
Just next to Bracknell, Berkshire.
this one was at Wargrave, not really sure what it depicts, not visible from any road, but probably from the river..
Nice one Rolf. Very unusual
Reading Corn Exchange.
That's a nice one Louise . Well spotted
And a functional Bell tower. Nice one.
I've also started a dedicated section on Wellenkamp Bird and Wildlife Photo Forum - Weather Vanes of UK and Europe
So - you're now officially the mad weathervane man, then? :-)
As a well known TV dog would say - Oooooh Yes.
I'll go along with that Louise
Here is a Vane I saw at Topsham today on a private house. I have uploaded it in a separate post because there are 5 shots of it. Would you believe , the wind blew it right round whilst I was snapping away.
A most unusual weather vane
That certainly is a different one Beryl, nice shots.
Thanks Rolf.
I thought it was nice. The house is along the estuary and Topsham is a tiny little town on the Exe estuary, all boats and jetties And Dutch houses from its maritime past
Here are some more weather vanes I collected in Topsham today
The first one is a little different. It was atop a ship's (Large Yacht) mast. As it appears to have two metal connectors I think it is for measuring weather rather than just wind direction but I'm not sure.
The second one appears to have lost control of Easterly winds The third looks like it is a home made out of drainpipes (not sure if it is a working vane) and the last one looks like a home made and rather battered
Love the third one, very original.
Yes. I wonder if the owner of the house is a builder do you think ?
Yes, he's made a rotating extraction pipe for the foul waste vent.
Oh. Well as you said you liked it I have uploaded it into the Wellenkamp forum
I think it's brill actually. I would like to know why the first at the top of the ships mast one has two like connectors ?
Here is a nifty structure . I found this sitting on top of a house in Topsham
Looks like a copy of the Greenwich one Beryl.
Yes you may be right. I think it may represent the same some how looks a bit similar
Well done Beryl, i especially love the mermaid one
Here are some from my trip to Cornwall all taken in Falmouth
Great shots Babs.
We are getting quite a collection now.
Missed this one. captures on a ship in the Topsham boat yard a ship
Nice ones Babs, the cat and mouse in particular.
Yes. I really like the Cat & Mouse.
Interesting thread I will watch out for some weather cvanes on my travels
Here are a couple I found at Topsham that I missed last week. The first on is on the church which can't be seen from the main street. I wondered and went into the grounds as one can get down to the docks from there an low.................... rather High and behold there was a vane on the tower round the back. I think the directions maybe in Latin
This lead me to the next vane that can only be seen from the back of the church on a little sort of River cafe . It appears to have lost it's directions but still rotates
Nice ones Beryl, what do you reckon about the date 1821 did they have weather vanes then....................... I don't know I wasn't around then but............................there again you might know
Thanks Babs
I think it says 821 and its the number of the person who made it , there are several in Exeter with numbers on them
Here is one I found at Newquay Zoo
That is a beauty Babs. Well observed . Excellent
I'm hoping to find some here
But it could well have been up there for a long time I tried looking it up and got Style #821so it must be that

Here is vane I captured from Regents Park above roof tops so I don't know the name of it's building.
A nice couple of vanes there. Love the Badger Babs.
Here are a couple of vanes from France, one on the Church at Hartencourt, thought it was worth showing the whole tower, as it was unusual, the second one is from Saint Germain le Gaillard and the third from Serez.
Here's one from Rotherwick in Hampshire, not sure what it's supposed to be.
NIce captures all of them
Here's a rather nice one from Hare Hatch between Reading and Maidenhead.
