Sorry I'm first in again but promise to take a 'back seat' for the next one.
Grey Phalarope (Red Phalarope) Phalaropus fulicarius.
Why do they keep changing the names of birds Chris....any idea?
Pete.

I was actually here first Pete but I hadn't a clue. Knew you would though
Well done
Thanks for that Beryl. By the way, your G S Woodpecker series of pics are great....well done.
Pete.
Thanks I Pete I have made them a bit larger a the bird was too much
The name change is intruging, really. Could be that they (by using dna) find a better place for them and changed their family name accordingly ?
Anyway, of course it was a : Brednäbbad simsnäppa Phalaropus fulicarius NU
That picture was somewhat blurred so it was a good work finding this out.
Well done Pete
I think name changes are due to defining between subspecies or some thigh like that
uk.rec.birdwatching - Scientific bird names explained
So, let us see if we have the same name for this one
I'm leaving this one as promised Chris. Thanks for this enjoyable 'quiz'.
Pete.
Looks like a Bittern - Botaurus stellaris ?
Indeed Chocky, well done again !
Rördrom (Botaurus stellaris)
Thank you
Here is a nice little fethered friend
The tail's a give away, Black Redstart - Phoenicurus ochrurus
Yes it did, didn´t it ?
Svart rödstjärt Phoenicurus ochruros
A small bird, for Your eyes only
Corn Bunting Miliaria calandra.
Pete.
Would never ha guessed that one .
Well don Pete
Thank you Beryl....trouble is you always congratulate me before Chris announces I'm correct that's your confidence in me Beryl which I hope I can continue to live up to.
Pete.
I do hope that they did not change this name for the bird
So, let us say that they did not, then I must say No, it is not
but really close, that´s why I said this about name-change
Could it be a : Lapland Bunting - Calcarius lapponicus ?
No, sorry
Pete was very close
I have never seen a Bunting . It was a guess really.
Rolf or Pete will surely know
Yes Chocky, perhaps
Here is a better pic
That certainly looks like a Corn Bunting, perhaps it is a name change thing, Swedish name of the Corn Bunting is Kornsparv, the old latin name is Emberiza calandra, but there are different races, clanceyi and buturlini.
Yes....100% Corn Bunting Chris. So we have another one of those confusing name change 'jobs' but I'll leave someone else to research it if thats OK.
Pete.
Here is why the Corn Bunting has had a name change
Re: Corn Bunting
All to make this more intruging
Like I said - wonder if they changed again
Kornsparv Emberiza calandra
It was close Pete, very close
So, what about this bird ??
Ivory Gull - Pagophila eburnea ?
I think it's a Black-headed Gull - Larus Ridibundus.
Think your probably right Rolf.
Yes agree with Rolf Black - headed Gull, a juvenile by the way.
Pete.
Oh is that why it has black tail tips?
Gull's are very complicated Beryl and ignored by most birders including me in lots of cases but I do try hard to understand them. This bird will retain its black tail band and won't be seen in full adult plumage for over twelve months.
Pete.
OK.
I see them all the time especially Black headed and you see one looks mainly at the head and the black tail tips threw me out . So here I have learned. Thank you
I should be a bit more observant really living ten minutes from the estuary and the B H Gull is numerous in the park
I may have posted a photo of a Mediterranean Gull on here before but am going to post one anyway as I'm sure you must have them in your area and they can be overlooked quite easily and mistaken for Black - headed Gull the difference being they are an all white gull quite readily separated from the BHG. The pic I download will have one of each in it to make comparisons. Let me know what you think Beryl and from now on watch the B H Gulls carefully as it is quite exciting finding a Med Gull often with them.
Pete.
Yes, You found it again
Sure it is a : Larus ridibundus skrattmås
Well done
Now, what could this be ???
Black Woodpecker - Dryocopus martius?
That was fast Rolf
and it was right
Dryocopus martius spillkråka
When they named it in Sweden thay didn´t know that it was a woodpecker (it was a "few" years back) so they named it after some crow
