Sorry about the abysmal quality of this one, but taken on the mobile into a very bright sky.
This is a house on the riverside at Pangbourne.
Oh It's great. Well spotted
There just aren't many at all in Exmouth most houses are so big and have (Like ours ) joint ownership
That is a nice one- and I love the feeling of movement that it gives, after all that is what it is recording.
well am I slacking or what, well done Beryl and rolf , it's amazing how many different ones there are
Here is one. Gollllleeeeey I walk past it every time I go to the estuary and have only just noticed it.
Can only get the front way from the estuary and I didn't want to get my feet wet so have flipped it
Here are three weather vanes I spotted today.
The first is at Beenham, the second and third at Hurst, Berkshire.
They are beauts.
Love the first one. Well spotted Rolf
Found these two yesterday in the town. First is on the Library and the second is on a Church near the nature walk
Thanks Babs
I have asked them at the Library to find out for me
Nice couple of vanes there Beryl, like Babs, trying to work out what it depicts.
Thank you Rolf
Yes when I saw it yesterday I thought it was Santa ( I wasn't very well ) but seeing it close up Nooooo.
Hopefully I'll find out.
A couple taken on the phone last night as I walked to the Indian restaurant.
Great shots Well spotted
Here is a weather vane I have had tucked away for awhile I' was taken with my Konica Z 6.
London Greenwich Observatory
That's a nice one Beryl.
Thanks Rolf
I suddenly remembered my trip to London and was there a vane at the Observatory. There would have to be because it is a place where time and every thing is recorded wind as well
This one is ona building which used to be TSB Bank before Lloyd.s took i on
That's a nice one Beryl, I presume the spinning part has been removed.
I don't think so. I'll have a look on a windy day. It's in town.
The library are very keen to find out what their Weather Vane depicts now and never thought about before but have suddenly become very interested.
It was a school before they took over and they are going to e-mail me . They said it might take a week or two
Nice one Beryl, look forward to their reply.
Well you two have left me lagging behind haven't you, well done both of you, I love to look at them.
we are off to Cornwall at the end of the month and I shall be on the lookout for more
Thanks Babs
With such a lack of birds I'm thinking of looking up places of interest with weather vanes
Nice subject I must lookfor some
Here are a few from today.
Number one is on the main Reading to Goring road at Lower Basildon, The second is the church at Pangbourne, the third is a house at the rear of the church, fourth is a better version of the one I posted earlier, it is on the main road through Pangbourne and last, this one is on the main road out of Pangbourne, towards Goring on Thames, on one of the large riverside properties.
Great capture there Rolf Well done
The first one is the Caversham Library and the second is opposite at the back of the Bakery.
Wow you two have now become experts on finding and photographing weather vanes, I look at one and think oh look at that and then I look at another and think the same. It is hard to choose a favourite because I love em all..................10/10 to the vane team
All credit to you Babs, for choosing an interesting subject. This thread could become internationally famous.
Yes. it's great isn't it?
Nice captures Rolf
Here is one I found today at the other side of town on a house
Ah, no need to guess what their hobby is then.
Two bob each way on Nostrils ?
Yes. Hats off to Babs for this interesting thread.
I went to Exeter today and her are a few I found. Most have their names on them and one is unknown because I couldn't get near the building to identify it
Two of thenm have J789 on. Iwill try and find out why
There are some nice ones there Beryl, could just be a maker's number on the vanes.
Here are a couple I spotted today, they are in Cockney Hill, Tilehurst.
Show jumoing the first one. Great captures . The two of mine have numbers , you could be right. I'm going to do a bit of research later no one at the Cathedral new any thing about the vanes but they were all inserted ad looking for info when I left
Hey well done again you too ( the vane team have been on patrol again), I've gotta get out more. Know what I'll be looking for when I visit Cornwall in a weeks time...................and it's not often I come up with a good idea but I am really enjoy looking at all these wonderful weather vanes.
Thanks Babs
