Water Pipit Anthus spinoletta
Pete.
Yes Merlin, good work
Vattenpiplärka Anthus spinoletta
Here is a headless bird
See if You can find it´s name
Not much there to identify Dig, but I'd guess at a Little Grebe - Tachybaptus ruficollis
Have to hide a bit for You all here, just to make it a little harder
So, no Rolf, it is not
Slavonian Grebe- Podiceps auritus ?
Yes it is Well done again Chocky
Here is a better picture
This is a challange, really. Not often seen in Sweden.
It´s a special brand so look carefully
SOUTHERN GIANT PETREL (white phase) - Macronectes giganteus ?
No , it is not
Ivory Gull Pagophila eburnea.
Pete.
Wow. Well done Pete
It's rather a beauty isn't it?
Yes but not seen one yet but fingers crossed one day hopefully Beryl. They really are 'ivory' in summer plumage.
Pete.
It's the patterning on the wing. I looked in my encyclopaedia of birds. It doesn't have every bird and the one I put had similar and was nice too but the wrong one. I looked up yours and it's a beautiful bird
Yes, like I said it is very seldome seen up here in Sweden, but this one seems to be staying here so, perhaps, they will take a trip over to UK some day.
Anyway, well done again as it was an : Ismås Pagophila eburnea
Ice = Is
A more common bird ?
Arctic Redpoll - Carduelis hornemanni exilipes ?
I do believe you have it spot on Beryl.
I had seen it in my encyclopedia looking at the Pipits and funnily enough remembered. I hope it is right can't be 100%
You could be right on this one Beryl and I'm certainly not going to suggest you may not be. That said the Redpoll is a difficult one and Im' not 100% sure this individual is pale enough for 'arctic' but I'm leaving it as......your guess is as good as mine Beryl. If it turns out you are correct then well done.
Pete.
Well we will have to wait and see
Sorry for the late answers been busy for a while
Well, Chocky it is not quite correct, the Carduelis is OK but not the rest.
Think it´s a matter of color
Lesser Redpoll - Carduelis cabaret ?
No, it is even lesser red
Carduelis is the finch family
So it could be a
Mealy Redpoll - Carduelis flammea
Yes it is !! Well done again
Gråsiska Carduelis flammea
In swedish it is grey = grå
Thank you
I did find this one for You
Rock Pipit - Anthus petrosus ?
It looks like a Pipit of some sort, perhaps a Water Pipit - Anthus spinoletta perhaps?
Again - well done Chocky it is a : Skärpiplärka Anthus petrosus
Thank you
Think this bird might be a problem for You
At least I hope so.
A sparky little bird, in fact a Firecrest. Regulus ignicapilla.
