    Default Dalmatian Pelican (Pelecanus crispus)

    The best pic from a long series I captured whilst on a boat trip on Lake Skadar on the border between Montenegro & Albania a couple of weeks ago.

    The guide told us it was most unusual to see them in July - normally they are up in a remote corner of the lake well away from the tourist boats.

    Crop of a photo taken on a Nikon D5300 with 140mm lens. No processing on the image apart from cropping the photo to a sensible size - we dont want an 11 meg pic on the forum!

    THos wings look very heavy. I guess it needs to eat lots of fish to achieve the energy to fly!

    They have a 2m wingspan so its certainly a might bird, and will need a lot of fish.

    We also saw some pygmy cormorants - they are tiny!
