Starting a thread for my holiday captures in France, staying with my Sister near Chartres in the Eure et Loire region for a week.
Nipped out for a quick walk at 8am this morning, didn't get much, as I had my posse following me.
Did you take them with you or are you teching them English?
Nice photo.
LOL, no they are my sister's, what you see above is the small Posse, it can rise to three cats and two Yorkies.
Here's a long distance snap of a Heron flying over.
I realise theposse was the cat and dog. I like cats and also Yorkies.
Great Heron shot.
I have been at work incerting videos while you have been gone. Hope they are OK.
Yes, sorry Chocky, I was just saying that there are normally more than the two.
I tried the videos, but it may be the connection here, although it is broadband, it is not very fast.
Here is a female Linnet.
Could be . I'll ask Babs to try them out . She has had problems with her PC that is why she hasn't been around.
They work perfectly for me and on my own site two. I would think you do need a faily fast conection for movies.
Do the other's on the site work or is it just mune? The one you put up fore me woks perfectly too.
Here's a self seeded Poppy in my sister's garden, plus a picture of one of her Geese and a pair of Great (Cabbage) White Butterflies
Nice captures, very colourfyul. I didn't know geese had blue eyes.
Great butterflies, they look ready for battle or some thing lol
I captured an orange tip today.
Is the weather staying nice over there?
PS. BTW I put the videos up on you tube for private viewing. Would that be the problem . They work perfectly on my PC but not on a friends.

I have seen a few orange tip butterflies today, but was without the camera, we've just had torrential rain, but it seems to be short lived, looks like another lovely day tomorrow.
Oh that is a shame. The weather is very warm here. Hope it brightens up there.
Caught this little chap after hearing its song.
Here's a picture of me using the 50-500 with the 1.4x teleconverter, just before taking the photos of the whitethroat.
Had to move the tripod to allow this chap past, I'm not too sure whether the birds in the crop will be too happy.
When looked at closely, this is a pretty plant.
Nice set of photos. Enkjoying your self by the looks of it and all that open space away from people oh and such peace
Excellent photos Rolf, I especially like the whitethroat, never seen one myself, glad you had a great time and a safe journey home.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy taking them. Cycling down to the Villebon lake tomorrow, so hope I can get some more breeds, here's another picture of the Linnet female, she seems to like one particular tree.
Yes. Super set of pics. Hope the weather stays fine.
I have a duck with her two duclkings video to upload tomorrow.

Oooops I thought you were already home Rolf Enjoy your day tomorrow
Thanks Babs, yes, still here, return on sunday.
Look forward to watching the Ducklings Chocky.
They duclklings are gorgeous. I have uploaded them into my secret garden.
will put them in here tomorrow
This little chap turned up in the ancient apple tree as i was photographing it, so thought I'd get some pics, also managed to record his song.
That's a youngster isn;'t it. Not much pink on him. They are my favorite of the little birds
Could be Chocky, would have thought that it was a little early though.
Here are some of the first swallow arrival.
Could be a bit early I'm not sure which are males and female so I could be mistaking females for youngsters.
The swallow shots are excwllent. Very hard to captrue here
There were a pair of them in this tile stack, plus several little ones, they were a little too quick for me to catch though.
Wow. How big were they?
Lovely captures.
we had a resident one when I lived in Malta but it was only about 4 inchs ling.
The boys called it Lizzy (very origeal) lol
Well you are certainly getting a wide variety of wildlife in France Rolph. Bet your glad you took your camera along.
Yes Babs, it's amazing what is around and about when we take the time to look and wait.
Was just heading indoors for a shower prior to going out , when these two arrived. Always liked Grey Wagtails, such smart little birds.
Excllent captures .
You have outsmarted me. I just cannot capture these little birds, their colour is so soft they seam to blend with the background here and so there is no sharp line round them if you sort of know what I mea and they always look blurred, but hey I'm going to camcord them , a movie should come out sharper. I much prefer still shots though
Sorry about the quality, have a listen to the audio clip, they have a strange bit in the middle of the song which sounds like white noise.
Those are lovely captures Rolf. The sound does have a some thing in the middle. I think Robinds do a similar thing as well. Like a sort of crackle
Just outside Ollé on the road to Bayeau Le Pin, this one was by the side of the road, but wasn't too keen on me taking a photo, caught him as he was about to make off on his toes.
This chap was sat on the roof of a barn near the roadside again near Ollé, unfortunately was again a victim of the misty weather, but shows what a handsome bird he is.
Even tried putting a ladder on the van and my tripod on the roof to see above the oilseed rape, but not a bird in site. Last year I managed to get a few shots, but only with the small lens, so was hoping for better luck, unfortunately not to be though.
Nice photos. That Parteidge look comical.
Mind you don't fall off the roof of your van. Lol. wouldn't thst beat all
There aren't many birds any where , they are all sitting I think
Sat there for ages, the female was too timid, but he wasn't
Excellent captures. That is a beauty.
Are birds protected in France?
Not really, the hunting fraternity is much bigger in France, but then the country is bigger.
