Migrating birds and flourishing Mahonia.

Looked out at the Mahonia yesterday morning to see that it's flourishing, should see some great blooms and then grapes.

The birds are at Hosehill lake, where I went yesterday afternoon to try and catch a glimpse of the Great Northern Diver at closeby Main Lake.

The third photo is our regular female Great spotted Woodpecker.

That's a really beautiful first pic, Rolf! Worth framing!

Our Mahonia is a spring flowering one - and not as upright as yours. Yours will attract winter bees while it is in flower as well as your regular Blackcaps when fruiting. I wish we had one of those!

Haven't seen our GSWs for a week or so, but am sure they will be back again. Lots of Sparrowhawk visits recently, and she/they seem to be going for larger meals as we've found lots of Woodpigeon feathers and other bits lying around on the lawn. Hope a GSW hasn't been a victim....

It's a beautiful plant Catherine, really pleased with it, will be topping it again early next year, as don't want it to get any taller.
