    Default Robin nesting?

Could this be a Robin nesting?

I just noticed it tonight when we arrived home, but have not seen any bird at the box.

If it IS a Robin, and if it DOES nest there, it will not just be wonderful, but the first time we've had a Robin nest in a box - and this one was up on a wall in Ayr for years before we moved south!

YES! It is - and here are a few shots (in the rain) of Robin adding to the leaves!

The third shot shows 'Birdbox corner', with where the camera nestbox (where Fluffy nested last year) outline is in blue, and the Robins' box is in red. As you may notice, soon they won't be seen at all!

That's great Catherine, not yet managed to get any birds to use my single nestbox, may have to re-site next year.

Both the Camera nestbox and the Robin one face directly north.

The only other nestboxes which have been used since we moved south are two which are on the east-facing fence. One of those is being used by Blue Tits (poss. the two from the camera nestbox last year!)

Otherwise, when in Ayr, I've only known birds (both Blackbirds and Robins) to nest in south-facing greenery (ivy clinging to a fence) which was sheltered from direct sunlight by a Hawthorn tree., or in a west-facing direction under similar circumstances.

I've been watching her a lot recently.

Most of her nest-building takes place in the morning, when leaves and other bits and pieces are still being ferried in in great amounts. If I am sitting in the conservatory (watching her or not), she'll just sit on the fence for a while, then go off to come back later when I'm out of sight.

    She doesn't trust me...
