Yesterday heralded my first spotting of Fieldfares in the orchard opposite, the weather has been mild, but did get a frost yesterday morning.

Nice photo against a lovely blue sky, Rolf!

No sign on any here yet. I wonder if it's because the weather is so mild - both here and where they normally come from?

Got lots of LTTs here this morning though, but nothing is so far interested in my new nyjer feeder....

Really miserable weather today, drizzle and mist for most of the day. However, a female Kestrel decided to perch on one of the posts around the paddock and stayed there for quite some time. Not great photos due to the light, but was really great to watch.

Love the tail feather fan in that first pic, and her attitude in the last one!

    - At least you and Darcy were warm and dry inside!

(I couldn't get your pics to show properly yesterday as I was still uploading Christmas videos to Flickr at the time!)

Darcy was outside, where she lives day and night, doesn't seem to bother her. The Kestrel was on that or an adjacent post for the best part of half an hour, shame I couldn't get closer for a better shot.

Don't you have your portable hide with you? It would also keep you dry I guess!

Then all you'd need (apart from your camera and tripod) would be a flask of something hot (or alcoholically interesting) to keep you warm!

Crossed Beaulieu Heath today, dreich, dark and wet at 3pm! I felt sorry for a poor buzzard which was perched on a branch near the road - the rain was dripping off him, and he looked SO bedraggled.

Don't have the hide with me, but wouldn't have caught the Kestrel, as I'd have to have predicted where she landed, also a bit windy here at the moment.

Got this beautiful chap from an upstairs window on this wet and windy morning, again quite far off in photographic terms, but watched him for half an hour or so.

    Good catch!

He does look in good condition too, despite the weather.

Mind you, I love the way raindrops glisten in the grass, and you wouldn't get that on a sunny day!
