Default Ringeltaube / Common Wood Pigeon / Columba palumbus

We got a pair of these huge pigeons in our garden, they have been here ever since we moved in 10 years ago (or at least there has always been a pair here).
They are quite funny because being so big they have problems landing on the bird bath we put out, they fly into our windows (see here)

Lately we have been observing them being busy in a smallish tree near our living room. I seemed they were building a nest, but could it be so late in the year (mid October!?) Well, today I went up and took some pictures of the chicks when Dad arrived for some feeding. I took some pictures and some videos. I know this is only a pigeon, but still...

    Enjoy

That's a lovely tree for them to nest in, TG.

We don't have any which are fit for that purpose near us, but Woodpigeons call all day and every day to eat, so we support them in other ways!

'Our lot' have been busy as well, as we've got two juveniles in the garden most days. Maybe the warm weather in late summer

    Default Here are some vids

I took some short clips of the adult feeding them "milk", afterwards the chicks seem happy and start cleaning their feathers. They are quite big so I think they will start flying soon.

Good captures TeeeGeee, they will apparently mate at any time of the year, this is pretty late though.
