Like a mini-Humming Bird, this insect flies from flower to flower, its long proboscis reaching into the centre of each to sup nectar;
An intriguing little creature and nice photos.I guess it's time for me to get the old macro lens out as well.
When I read the title I just thought of a toddler shouting "Bee!....fly!"
But a lovely couple of shots. the second one is a lovely clean shot, but I really like the first one as it shows it at it's weirdly-shaped best
The other day I was watching a few bees checking out the dark spots on my wall, obviously hoping that they were holes deep enough to nest in... they were all disappointed.

My camera works well with slow-moving creatures which allow time for focusing in on them!. When I have that right and press the button, I just pray the 'subject' won't fly out of shot before the shutter 'clicks' a second or so later!
In other words, Bee Flies - Yes!Kingfishers - No!
Saw one today, but had the big lens on and couldn't get far enough away.

Mike was helping us re-felt the pitstop this weekend, so went around the garden with his camera to try out some macro shots.
He selected a white Narcissus with an bright orange centre, and was just getting the close-up focus right when a Comma Butterfly flew on to it! So 'Click!' Mike said it was the photo of the day!
Had my macro lens with me Catherine, but problem is it takes a while to swap between the two.
...time to get a second camera and have both hanging off your neck... then time for a sore neck I suppose
Already got the second camera, but it's a pain to carry it about, plus of course it doesn't have IS, although the little Casio I have does, may have to keep it in my pocket for cases like that.
