Not my type of decoration I'll have to admit. The problem with this sprt of thing is that this sort of thing never never goes together. I don't mind 'bling' but it does need to work together or all it is is noise. A house near me has a load of 'light' figures on their wall, but as they are all the exact same 3 colours it works (even though I prefer just lights). Another house near me had got around the 'non-matching' problem by sticking to white lights.
One neighbour has in the past had a few VERY large blow-up figures (including a snowman in a snow globe). What I hated about those was not how they looked but the fact that the bloody airpump was making a racket all the time! They don't seem to have those this year, but do have a train on a track.
Ooh, I sound real "Bah Humbug!!" don't I? What I did see that made me laugh was a Santa hanging off the railing of an office building in the town centre... I really did initially think "what a berk...!"
Chrimbo Lights... As lads (with no cash) at about 11 yrs we would go Carol Singing i recall, and well if the House had Christmas Lights On, they were the ones to visit with a Song 'Good King Wensaslas' 'Away in a manger' etc. It meant there was someone home and Celebrating Christmas if the lights were on!
LOL - a nice bit of logic there
Our school choir used to sing for charity, and we would pick the expensive areas (Pangbourne was a favourite destination). I remember once that a smartass said "Yeh, well, I'll give you a fiver if you can sing Silent Night in German"- now you need to keep in mind that this would have been the 70's so it was quite a lot - unluckily for him, 2 of us had learned the German lyrics, so he had to stump up.
