    Was quite surprised to see this beauty today in the garden, looks brand new, in perfect condition.

    It DOES look very 'new', Rolf! Maybe it will overwinter in a shed/other nearby?

    I didn't realise that they hibernated, just found out after seeing this one and googling.

    Nice shots. I saw a dark butterfly ( I assume one of these) pass me last week - the only ones left
