A decline in the greenfinch population in the eastern counties has been blamed on an infectious disease.

I think I saw this other link here earlier; BBC News - Disease threat to UK garden birds
Anyway, I've emailed it to everyone I know who feeds birds.
Really sad, and I hope things are better than they feared.
That's a really helpful video!
It's awful, isn't it.
Sadly, the situation for the Greenfinches etc. is the same over here, though I've never seen a bird affected by the disease in my garden, - well not yet!
The researches over here do not miss the oppurtunity to adivse folks not to feed the birds in summer and don't put out fresh water for them, as the warm weather is beneficial for the growing/spreading of the parasite. As to why the disease is also spreading in the winter time, ... not a word to be read in the researches!
