I know much has been said about its rejuvenation, but it was only when we went into London to meet our son at his new workplace yesterday that I realised just how amazing it was.

A holiday in the south in the mid fifties was perhaps the last time I'd been in the old station. It was then filled with wonderfully powerful steam locomotives attached to their familiar maroon and cream carriages. The smell of smoke filled the air, and not as much light managed through the glass roof as that same smoke had already blackened its appearance.

The modern St Pancras is truly amazing, with architects having transformed it so that it still retains its former magnificence, while moving forward with style as a building fit for purpose in the 21st C. The old brick work down at the lower level has not been disguised, but enhanced. Makes you proud to be British!

Yes, that's a very pretty station now, they are doing a nice job on most of them.

It's amazing what they can do when they think about it. Thanks for showing it - I was there a decade or more ago, but would like to see it as it looks now.

But I would like to ask - did you catch Glen staring up that large, bronze woman's skirt?

No, Louise! Her face was like... well, a bit too hard for him to be interested in her nether regions.

We had lunch in Carlucchios (sp.?) behind the barrier on the lower right of that first pic. Great meal at cheap price . I loved the lasagne - and our waiter wasn't too bad either!

I went to the opening of the Carluccio's in Reading. As soon as I hear about a restaurant opening I find their website and ask about their opening and usually get invited to their opening party for free
