Silver-washed Fritillary male and female - Argynnis paphia

Popped down to Moor Copse reserve for an hour or so yesterday afternoon, these large butterflies really catch the eye, I think that all of the ones I've photographed are Silver-washed Fritillary, but sure I saw a Dark Green Fritillary as well.

As per my Butterfly book, all of these were close to bramble and raspberry clumps.

Ooh, lovely set... and what a lovely butterfly. Learning what butterflies like to eat is definitely a good idea. Mind you, the larvae and adults often want different things, so I suppose it's great to find somewhere that has both close together - more likely to find your target

On a second look I just realised - the eyes seem to have a similar pattering to the wings
