I read an interesting thing the other day about how butterflies hold themselves when basking.
Darker ones sit flattened out as they absorb heat easily, but paler ones (whites, blue & and coppers) have to sit with wings half closed because white reflects sun - this positions reflects the warmth back to the other wing, thus trapping the warmth in the area above the darker body.. giving the body more chance to warm up. Ain't nature wonderful
