I know that this is nothing compared to other parts pf the country, but for us in the shelter of the Thames Valley it's quite extreme. The buses are out and I am not going to walk into work (even though I won't get paid), but my boyfriend feels he needs to... after which he attempt to make his way back to London) This is him ready to go (with one of the lovely hiking sticks that my lovely brother gave me one year, one of my scarves and one of my hats... what would he do without me? ).
The second shot really gives a good idea of how deep the snow is, although it is deeper in some parts.
BTW, I have a 'stray' cat that visits me for food (he never used to be stray, just an outdoor cat... I'm not sure now). I have an old cat house just outside the front door which he often uses. He wasn't there last night but when I got there this morning I could see a series of holes in the snow where the poor lad had picked his way though. He's now dozing in the (extra padded) box, all full with food.
