In the second photo I've gone in really close to show you the whiskers... must be left over from his stint as Father Christmas
Oh yes, I've never noticed that before, good close up.
I borrowed someones big-bugger lens
Did you manage to lift it?
Just about - but I did have to counterweight it by hanging a load of books off my back
LOL, just trying to visualise that.
Lovely shots Louise.
I have noticed other birds have whiskers The Robin does .
Louise,
Would your' blackbird like a wife?
He probably would, but she does look a little grumpy.. I can't see her liking him going off on his own ever again (you know, standing by the door with a frying pan in her hand "and WHAT time do you call this?!?" )
Lovely shot, BTW, and she also had a good set of whiskers.... where are those waxing strips when you need them?
All three photos are excellent, folks!
I've never noticed Blackbirds' 'whiskers' before either.
I wonder if they act as extra sensors - for when they are looking for or 'testing' food, or are being urged by their young to pass over some to them?
super shot, whiskers as well!! mike
