Olympus Evolt E520, and borrowed lenses and flash. Fuji Finepix S7000 for Macro A chair :)

Default Red Kite - Milvus milvus

I've included this, not because it's a great shot of the bird, but because it demonstrates how we see the bird in this area. You wouldn't normally picture a bird of prey in a town setting, but they are very much at home here, and I associate them with rooftops, not treetops.

One website about kites (Northern Kites in Gateshead's Derwent Valley) says: "Kites require open farmland with scattered woodlands and trees" .. but not here they don't!

Yep, certainly at home in the suburbs, best place to see them down low. Was up at Ashampsted last week and there were now fewer than 10 of them soaring over a copse.

Wow, Rolf - I've seen four in one go, but not that many!

    Default red kite

I love the Red Kite's - we've had as many as 8 circling around our house this summer - I've seen them a lot overhead in town where I work in Henley - glad they have made a comeback

Wow, loads for you as well, stishaz? I'm obviously not living in a kite-desirable area
    BTW - welcome.
