Red Lily Beetle - Lilioceris lilii

The Lily-lovers enemy - but stunning creatures. Although the second piccie isn't brilliant, it gives an idea of the head.

just spotted this from 2007 whilst clearing out my photos. I have to admit that when I had lilies I would keep an eye on the beetles but didn't eradicate them as I loved looking at them.
I can't keep Lillies now as the pollen is absolutely lethal to cats.

Yep they're amazing, almost look like they're made out of shiny plastic or coloured glass.

Didn't know about the Lily pollen and cats.

Poinsettia is too

Yep, Poinsettia is dangerous if they bother to chew on it, but a tiny amount of Pollen from a Lily is enough to kill a cat. The problem is that Lillies produce a lot of pollen and it easily falls onto their fur as they pass which they will ingest when they clean. I think it permanently damages their kidney.
