Winds last Tuesday
I had forgotten I had taken these, my neighbours both in their 80's look like they are going to have to replace most of their ridge tiles if they can get them, most appear split in the middle and the winds blew off one into our drive, luckily the car was parked further forward but another is hanging precariously in the gutter. The sparrows had a bit of a shock too and are now nesting in a bush at the bottom of my garden
That's a shame Neil, looks like they've nested there for several years.

I would agree by the number of nests one on top of each other. I would say they have been entering via the missing pointing for a few years. Two 'ahem' builders have been and looked at the job but neither have come back to do it.Originally Posted by rolf

They need not worry about that, the wind has done that bit for them.
Update
My elderly neighbours are absolutely steaming....furious just isn't quite the word to cover how they feel, they have paid buildings insurance for 35 years on that property and the assessor has now told them that the damage caused is down to wear and tear, it is scandalous.
Those ridge tiles can no longer be obtained so they must have them all be removed and replaced with equivalents. They are now having to wait 30 days to get their savings out to pay for it.
Why are we forced to pay insurance?
Yes. It is scandalous. I had to pay £250 for what they call wear and tear. I said how does one see the inside must I remove the ceiling and check very so often ? as it happened the ceiling literally fell on top pf me in the end. I still had to fork out for the insides though.
So I can see why they are angry

We may still he homeless children but boy I'm glad we are.......so tuck in this chap keeps putting out the seeds from red peppers and boy are they yummy
Repairs Completed
Well our neighbours had their ridge tiles replaced finally, so we have been surrounded by scaffolding recently. I cannot say the workmanship meets my standards, even I can point better than that, but they seem happy
Crumbs, you're not kidding Neil, that's a nasty job.
Looks like it has been done by a cowboy builder. That will shrink when dried out properly and the same trouble will start again
