By the side of the River and canal in Reading town centre - this little lady was walking (very fast) along the side, staring at the water and flying off every now and then catching insects. You can clearly see the blue body of a damsel fly poking out of her mouth in the 4th photo, and the last one has been over-enlarged just so you can see how much she has stuffed into her mouth.... and she at last decided that she had enough and flew off.
When I say 'town centre' - the other side of the river rises up to be the side of the inner distribution road - yuo may have seen it on Rolf's posting #22 on this thread - http://www.thamesvalleybirds.co.uk/l...html#post31919 . That is 200 metres further along. I love this little oasis. I can't walk much, so it's great that I can get here and see Swans, Geese, Pigeons, Ducks, Wrens, robins, Woodpeckers, Wagtails, Coots.. and other birds I can't quite catch. Oh, and yesterday - 2 courting couples
