Rabbits, rabbits everywhere, and not a one to catch!!

This was in a park by the side of the Thames in Reading (near Caversham Lock). The rabbits would come out of the undergrowth onto the edge of the grass and then all run back in in fear, then all come out again then all run back..... But, on my way back I followed a path that came from behind through the undergrowth onto the grass. I stopped before I hit the grass and slowly moved forward to watch the mass of rabbits. only to look down and find that I had surprised this little sweetie. He just sat there as I moved very slowly forward.

What gets me about this is that if I panned the camera upwards you would see blocks of flats... it really is quite central to the town.

The third photo I have included as it shows their lovely white flash of tail!

There is a park here by the railway track with quite a few rabbits but I have only ever seen at the most about 5

I was amazed to see them there considering how close they are to town. The start of my walk was literally 3/4km (as the crow or the duck flies!) from the very centre of town, and since it's quite a big town that's not far. There were more out earlier in my walk.

There are actually quite a few wild areas in the main areas of Reading, albeit that they are sometime small. I will try and make an effort to get out to them and take some photos so as to expand my repertois away from garden insects

I haven't seen many insects at all this year just a web full of baby spiders That nearly got me.

It's funny that you should say that but I've just answered a comment on a gardening website about not seeing many insects in the garden. I have only noticed a serious drop in wasps. There are fewer insects, but still quite a few considering how wet it's been... but then my garden is a haven since it is left very untidy. Apart from the male stag beetle, all of my insects were in my small garden.... and i haven't finished uploading them yet!!!

They are probably getting caught up in spiders webs and eaten . There are so mant=y spiders along the estuary. Ihave seen a few wasps but only white taild Bumble bees. Quite a few Red Tailed last year
