Captured eating things in the brook at the local park

Yes. If you catch them at the right angle . I don't know what he has found to eat though

We have a Magpies' nest a few doors along, so Magpies come into the garden, carrying crusts, etc,. in their beaks.
They then dunk those in our clean bird bath or pond, as, like all the Crow family, they prefer not to eat dry bread. However, that means that they leave the bird bath and pond with 'bits' sinking to the bottom!
Maybe your Magpie was doing a bit of dunking there too!

He seemed quite happy.
They are so nosey though. I expect he nosed out of his depth but he seemed very healthy. He/she has a nest and I watch them every year, they have chosen a different tree this year
