I had an unexpected visitor in my garden today, it was dull and wet and I think it is a sparrowhawk but really not sure. It is difficult to tell in the snaps but it had very yellow legs

Looks like a Sparrowhawk .

Yes, agree with Beryl Sparrowhawk Neil which may reduce your garden birds a 'little' too.

As I say I was a bit puzzled because less than 3 feet away was a thrush and a couple of sparrows and I thought they would steer clear

Lol. They probably froze on the spot. one move and they would be goners for sure
