I thought it was a perigine falcon but the few ref books I have show it as having a bluey grey plummage
Could be a young Kestrel The eyes are like those of the kes' and th colour of the head. The beak looks like that of a youngster.
I could be completely wrong of course.
Certainly looks like a Kestrel, possibly a young male DD, where did you see it?
Sadly not in the wild Rolf.It was taken at Sion Hall.Apart from the garden birds I take,I find it easier to learn the tricks of photographing birds at those places espesially when they are in flight

Unfortunately there can be hybrids at these centres, that one may be a Harris Hawk, just been looking at the pictures.
Its no wonder I am confused Thanks for the info
The Harris Hawk is native to Central America and extends through to Canada, will put this thread into the non-indiginous section DD.
PS. Have seen them being flown at the Hawk centre in Warwickshire, striking birds.
thats not a harris hawk look like young kess to me could be hybred but is not harris hawk heres a pic of my mates hawk to compare
