My uncle has this bird coming to his house every morning to feed
he asked would i take some pics and find out what type it is?
we have looked in books, is it a wagtail?
Welcome to the site Numbz
Yes. I would say it is a Pied Wagtail in his winter coat
Certainly not a Wagtail Numbz, the strong beak would make it some kind of Finch or Bunting. It could be a Leucistic (partially coulourless) Goldfinch or Greenfinch, or a miscoloured Snow Bunting.
It may of course be an escapee, as it is not an exact match for anything I can think of.
Thanks for replying guys
the bird came first to the garden in feb for a few weeks and aint been seen again till yesterday.
it only feeds on the ground and not the feeders.
strange one lol
i would go for a leucistic chaffinch. i does look similar to a snow bunting, but you would'nt find one of those in your back garden, well very unlikely anyway!!. it is a handsome little bird, is'nt it?. i,m 99% certain that it is a chaffinch with lack of colouration
Thanks Andy, I guess the company it keeps may also be an indication of what it is, unless of course it is a loner.
thanks guys for the answer
ill ring my uncle and give him the news
thanks again
tis a lovley bird which he or me has never seen one like it before
cheers Numbz
