    Default Red or Spotted Redshank

We have both of these birds visiting at the present . How do I tell the Redshank from the Spotted Redshank apart from one has brighter legs than the other.
I captured this today and am not sure which one it is.

most of my efforts are digi-scoped, using an opticron hr66 scope, pentax optio v15 digital camera and homemade adaptor.+ a panasonic lumix fz28

    it's a redshank, chocky.
a spotted redshank is slightly bigger than a red and has markedly paler plmage in winter. it's back would be pale grey and would have a white under belly. in summer the are stunning, with dark plumage with light spots.

Oh . Right Thank you. In my book it shows the Spottdr RS in winter plumage and the RS in summer plumage which is soooooo helpful.
    Thanks again.
