    Default Male Blackbird

    I am chuffed with this pic. Its the first time I have managed to get a bird photo anywhere near sharp.The white flecks on the pic are not dandruff or a "mucky lens" but raindrops. The lighting was so bad (we have just had our first snowfall up here) that rightly or wrongly I had to use flash

    That's very good DD, the flash brings out details which natural lighting often misses.

    The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

    It seemed to be a very friendly bird. I took the first shot at some distance and moved closer and closer until I was nearly up to it.Apart from giving me a glance it carried on with what it was doing

    Yep. They are nice birds, Shiny black with sparkling eyes.
