This is a well kept secret, the wide lagoon by the bridge at Chilton Foliat, a haven for Geese, Ducks, Gulls and other waterfowl.
Nice capture. Looks a lovely place to spend hours at.
Why is it a secret?
Because there is no parking nearby, so unless you are local or walking past, you wouldn't see it. I had to park a couple of hundred yards away on the roadside, but it is a struggle.
The picture was taken from the bridge itself, not sure if there is any access to the banks on either side.
How far is it from Matt's house ?
He could drop me off and pick me up later . That's what he does some time when I'm at Yateley
It's the other side of Newbury, past Hungerford and on the road to Marlborough, but I'm not sure how easy it is to access the river banks, Hungerford is probably a better bet.
Oh right. I will ask Matt next time I go to his.
The best thing about Yateley Park is ,you are right at the lakeside for about two thirds of the way round as well as having thenature trail too, just the short wooed area that is set a bit further back.
The lakes we could see from the back of Horseshoe Lake belong to the Moor Green Reserve and you can't get any nearer than we were at that Hide.
But still a good place for non aquatic birds as you saw by the Buzzard I captured
