    most of my efforts are digi-scoped, using an opticron hr66 scope, pentax optio v15 digital camera and homemade adaptor.+ a panasonic lumix fz28

    The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

    Excellent captures andy b, have you noticed how other birds tend to take their food away from the feeder but the finches tend to eat at the feeder

    good observation, they shell the seeds on site.

    It seems to be a thing with the heavy billed finches, the Chaffinch does it to a degree and the Bullfinch definitely does, although I haven't seen one in the garden for more than a year, the sparrows will also sit there if left alone.
