    most of my efforts are digi-scoped, using an opticron hr66 scope, pentax optio v15 digital camera and homemade adaptor.+ a panasonic lumix fz28

    Default long tailed duck.

    this handsome little chap turned up briefly in preston marina. in may 2005.
    he is a male long tailed duck, and what he was doing in preston, only he knows. looks like he is just starting to change from his winter plumage into summer. these ducks winter at sea but spend summer on tundra land.....ah preston doe'snt have a great deal of that!! it stayed an hour or two then flew from wence it came.

    It is a very deep diving duck from north America isn't it?
    They have winter sites here protected by the RSPB. But don't breed here
    it's latin name is (Anatidae)

    they winter in large flocks in the baltic sea then summer on the siberian tundra
