Err where?? was it foggy that day?? :D
Crumbs Ross, that post has been up since October and you're the only one who's noticed.:) Here it is.:)
Also, a new one from the pub at Jennetts Park, Bracknell.
Love this one.:)
Really nice one too!
I wonder if it was made in the forge itself!:)
Don't think so Catherine, the forge hasn't been a working forge for quite a long time, lovely nonetheless.:)
Nice ones Rolf
Some of thee weather vanes are very good
The lovely Stanhope Church in Weardale deep in the North Pennines:
The writing on it says 2005 MF
Spotted in the lovely Northumbrian village of Craster.
This one was on a barn at the farm I was staying on this last week :) Most appropriate for a farm!
On the main street in Seahouses in Northumberland:
And finally spotted this one just outside the village of Embleton whilst out cycling. Just had to stop and take a pic!
All crackers Ross, like the Dr's one particularly. :)
Isn't that 'Dr's' one great - How unusual to use it as a form of advertising?.
Some really interesting vanes there, Ross!
Could the Seahouses creation be a way of getting around advertising restrictions in a conservation area? Pity the doc didn't get the maker to create a medical theme for it though - rather than just put his name on it!
I mean, could he not have commissioned one with a syringe, or a stethoscope, on top?;)
Good point Catherine - after all, that's the way they used to advertise before the general populace could read... it could make things very interesting :)
Here are some I spotted on a recent trip to the Lake District
Cracking ones there Joe, love the last one in particular. :)
Wow very decorative :)
Nice capture . well don
This is right on the sea front.
...and very appropriately fashioned :) I like the little 'doo-hickey' under the ship, it's a nice touch.
nice one, well done Joe.:)
Some Weather vanes I found today down by the Exmouth docks
Some nice ones there Beryl, well found.:)
Thanks yes. I like the Curlew. It's most unusual
Ooh yes, the Curlew one is lovely, especially with the Gothic letters :)
Here are the weather vanes I spotted on Sark and Guernsey
Here are some more.
some real crackers there Joe, well done.:)
A real variety! Of course, with the choo-choo you can probably also see which way the wind is blowing by where the steam goes ;)
I like the owl one - the circle to represent the moon is effective :)
These are wonderful, Joe!
I cannot compete, but this one was on the kiosk outside Lymington Town Sailing Club. I guess that's the town crest on the vane!
Nice one Catherine, we're getting an amazing collection now.:)
It IS a nice one, and you are right Rolf - a really nice collection!
On a visit to birdland (Bourton on the water)
Nice one Joe.:)
I love the way people choose suitable subjects for their vanes :)
Heres one in Regents Park
That's nice vane for birders - he's about to ring one and she has a shovel to clear up after them - well, have you seen how much a goose leaves behind? :-rolling
Sorry :-) That 's a lovely vane - I wonder if it was actually put up when the kids clothing suggests (Victorian). Also I love te way the birds at the start have 'grill' in their middle so they don't ruin the movement of the vane - I'm not sure I've seen that before.
