Well, I will start with this picture of an young bird
Think You can see some more now......:D
The story bihind this picture: The bird flew into a 2-glass window while hunting something to eat. Only a few minor scars on one toe, it was sorted and marked and away he went:)
-
Ah OK, in which case a Juvenile Goshawk, didn't realise they had the different feather streaking on the breast. Accipiter gentilis.
-
In that case it is OK :)
Duvhök Northern Goshawk Accipiter gentilis
Well done
He was hunting a dove, the dove did see the glass but he did not, it was a 2glass window, all schattered and the bird was found in the room hiding behing a curtin:D
Heavy bird ! But he did it OK, left and flew away for new adventures
-
A heart warming story there Chris.:)

Good Monday :)
Always a new fresh question for You all:D
This bird is shy
-
It's not just shy - it's obviously guilty of something and doesn't want to be recognised!;)
No underwater pic of it as well?:)
-
Does this mean that You need a better picture of this bird ?
It does show what You need, really - when You read the English name (that was a hint)
-
No hint needed 'yet', Crister! Just had a laugh when I saw it was one of your 'trick-pics' again!
So ...... Duck, or ..... Diver...? Must take a better look at those feathers!
(Rolf, hands off just now!:14:)
-
Well, I'm going to ignore my own advice and say Shoveler (f) - Anas clypeata
- Although I am bamboozled by the white under tail feathers. That could make it a Northern Shoveler though, so it would stay in the family!:D
So now Rolf/other can give right answer!;)
-
Anything that You don´t know about the birds, blame it on the Northern part:bananarock:
Think I wait for more guesses
-
Looked through my books and with the white unter the tail and feather pattern, I'd go for a Long-tailed Duck.
-
Welcome to the game maureen
and well done !
Alfågel Long-tailed Duck Clangula hyemalis :D
-
Thanks Chris, was a bit of a guess, pleased it worked out.:)

So it is time for a Monday bird :)
-
Awww, it's a Little Grebe - Tachybaptus ruficollis :)
Now, where is the next question, Crister!;)
-
In Sweden we call it beeing "Kaxig" :D asking for the next q.
Smådopping Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis
Nice bird and a good find :)
-
Ooo, just checked 'kaxig' - and it means 'cocky'!:o
Well, it was an easy one. I'm just no good at Mexican Eagles, etc.!;)
-
Well, I will see what I can do tomorrow. Think that kaxig is a special word, I would go so far as to cocky - I will have a lookie if I can find a better translation

Got this bird for You all :)
-
I'll guess it's a Sandpiper, no real pattern on head, orangey yellow legs and slightly down turned bill, would perhaps indicate a Purple Sandpiper Calidris maritima?
-
GOOD "GUESS" i MUST SAY
Skärsnäppa Purple Sandpiper Calidris maritima :D
Good finding:)

Again a Monday bird :D
This is a special great looking bird.
-
Well, I'm not sure that I've actually seen one, but I'm fairly sure it is a Water Rail - Rallus aquaticus
(Thinking that 'vr' is a contraction of the Swedish for 'water' - or 'water rail'?:))
-
You guys must stop cheating by reading the name of the pic:14:
and Yes it is vattenrall vr:-doh
Vattenrall Water Rail Rallus aquaticus:thumbsup:
Strange looking bird !!

Cheating? Moi?
