Ah, now it is time for a more common bird:-elf but perhaps not too hard to name !
The second picture is for fun only !!!
Looks like a Black-backed Hat-catcher in the second shot:)
First one looks like a Peregrine.:) Falco perigrinus
Sorry Rolf, it won´t help to say it twice if it is wrong lol
LOL, don't know how that happened.:) How about a Hobby - Falco subbuteo?
:-santasack
Well, I was so amazed by the double post so I did not (really) checked Your answer :-snowhead
It was a correct one, the first one, sorry.
Pilgrimsfalk Peregrine Falcon Falco peregrinus:-eball
A new bird, a new name please :-cthumb
I reckon it's a Great Northern Diver, Gavia immer.:)
Yes Rolf, it is:-eball
Svartnäbbad islom (Gavia immer):-cthumb
Gosh, it is Monday again, the last one for this year :-elf
Well, I'm giving it a go - Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus)
You need to tell me it's a good guess at least, Crister!;)
It is a good guess for sure
but not what I wanted
Gimme a new guess
I'll go for Long-eared Owl - Asio otus.
Hornuggla Long-eared Owl Asio otus
Very close Catherine:-cthumb
Time for a new bird :-eball
Well, I've a feeling that this is going to be 'very close' again, Crister, but I have to suggest
Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) -
if, for no other reason, that allows Rolf to show how much more clever he is again!:-eball
Yes My Lady it is very close
Think You better do an evening prayer before next "close" guess
Many thanks, o' kind sir! :-mrs
I wondered if 'evening prayer' might have been a clue, but I cannot think how.....
- so I'll just have to try 'Little Kestrel' - Falco naumanni next....
(Now, to say that is right would make a lady really happy, Crister.
However, if you say it is not, then Rolf will need to look up his book again.....:-sman)
Happy New Year !
Well, I don´t think that Rolf have to look into any boooks for this bird, and yes - it was a clue !
Well I think I know this one, but it's a difficult one as the picture is quite light.:) It's perhaps a Red-footed Falcon - Falco vespertinus.:)
Ah, so 'vesper' was the 'evening prayer' I guess....
Never mind - never DID understand religion either.... :014:
Aftonfalk Red-footed Falcon Falco vespertinus
Well done
So let me ask You all - what is the name of this bird ???
It's a Lapland Bunting - Calcarius lapponicus.:)
Lappsparv Lapland Longspur Calcarius lapponicus
Yes, we have some of them up north, seldom around my house. Very good looking bird:-cthumb
Will have to make it up your way one summer Chris, you have a few birds that we never see.
Yes Rolf, think we can sort that out...
A new bird - good looking I say !
Harris Hawk - Parabuteo unicinctus?
- though it may have too much white on its rump for that bird.... :(
Think it's a Golden Eagle, Aquila chrysaetos, I believe the only Eagle resident in the UK.
Kungsörn / Golden Eagle ( Aquila chrysaetos ):-cthumb
The Swedish name is King Eagle !
Well spotted
OK Here is another "killer":-cthumb
So, please
Name both birds
Looks like a White-tailed Eagle Chris, Haliaeetus albicilla, but aside from looking like a Gull, no idea what the other bird is.:)
Well, the "killer is OK in Swdish it is a Havsörn (sea eagle) and the other one is a Gull. Wonder if we coukd find out what kind of Gull ??
I wait for Cathrine!
You are SUCH a gentleman, Crister!:)
Now I DID know that the 'killer' was a White Tailed Sea Eagle, but I wasn't sure re. the Gull - and I thought you wanted both answers...., so.. now I'm just guessing that the intended dinner is a poor immature Great Black-backed Gull - Larus marinus ...:014:
Now, please be still a gentleman and say I'm right!:D
Well, You have to wait for Monday as I fogot to post the right answer - it is still at work.
I am almost sure that it is a good answer (lol)
There is a story around this picture, the Eagle was scared away from a large number of crows - so it lost the dinner.
It was close so I spill the beans
Havsörn White-tailed Eagle Haliaeetus albicilla + Gråtrut Herring Gull Larus argentatus
Monday again ! Time for a new bird:)
You are SO kind, Crister, but I think possibly one dead Gull is very like another - especially if it's a young one....
Well, today's now..... it's a Crossbill - of a type - but that's a difficult angle to judge head and beak size........... so I'll try the ordinary one first - Loxia curvirostra
:)
I'll go for Pine Grosbeak - Pinicola enucleator.
Next time, try a few more (before Rolf enter the scene)
