Not overconfident I 'm 'spot on' as you say Rolf as its a tricky one not forgetting it's Chris who's submitted it.
Yes a female of whatever it is Beryl......I think perhaps probably Lesser Spotted is the best way to put it on this one.
You're turn Chris!
Pete.
Has the right facial markings. I have only seen the malea nd very far off so not a fantastic photo
Yes of course it was spot on
Mindre hackspett Dendrocopos minor
Well done !
What could this be ?? :conf40:
How about a Grey Wagtail - Motacilla cinerea?
Think you could be correct here again Rolf the only alternative being a Yellow Wagtail which is a species much more complex than the last one (Redpoll).
Can't brighten my monitor enough to get to grips with the extent of Yellow underparts.
Pete.
Yes it is a : Forsärla Motacilla cinerea
That was a good finding, the picture was (on purpose) not one of the best
Here is a very shy bird:)
Can't tell from that pic' it won't expand :)
I see (now) that it is a very small picture:)
I´ll see if I can get a bigger one.
Hope this is better :)
Cuckoo - Cuculus canorus
Yes, a bird more heard than seen
Well done !
Thanks :) Have never seen one
Here is a new bird :)
Jack snipe - Lymnocryptes minimus
or
Snipe - Gallinago gallinago
Not sure but looking at my little guide, the wing markings are those of a Woodcock Scolopax rusticola.
yes your probably right :)
I think he is :)
Morkulla Eurasian Woodcock Scolopax rusticola
Yes. I have never seen a Woodcock and it looked like a Snipe at first.
Well done Rolf :)
Now we shall have a guess at some not so often seen birds. still typical for Sweden. :)
We start with this one !
Greenshank Tringa nebularia ?
Wood Sandpiper Tringa glareola.
Pete.
Here is a bird with a very strange Swedish name, let us see if You can find it.
Largely extinct in Britain (apart from Scotland), but a very recognizable bird (I hope). :) It's a Wryneck - Jinx torquilla, same overall family as the Woodpecker.:)
Wryneck - almost as strange as the Swedish name:)
Göktyta Jynx torquilla
Nice finding Rolf :thumbsup:Code:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_Wryneck
That was fast, let us see what You say about this one :)
Red-throated Pipit Anthus cervinus ?
That was fast Chocky !
Rödstrupig piplärka Anthus cervinus
Well done again !
Thank you . :acclaim:
Now, what could this be ??? :)
Purple Sandpiper - Calidris maritima ?
Sorry but I must say No :)
Green legs, white underside and spotted tail would perhaps indicate a green sandpiper - Tringa ochropus?
Edited silly mistake. :)
Green Sandpiper tringa ochropus. Though interesting that Rolf gives the same scientific name to the Spotted Sandpiper Actitis macularia.
Pete.
Don't know what happened there, was looking at two screens at the same time, so got the wrong local name, but the correct latin name. :-rofl
It is the Green.:)
Split vision Rolf:)
Anyway, it´s green allright
Skogsnäppa Tringa ochropus !
Got a new bird for You
